I put my son's college money in a my State's sponsored College Fund using their mutual fund option. Got a tax break on it also. Mutual funds spread out the risk much more than individual stocks.

What mutual fund do you use? And for the tax break, is that because its a Roth IRA?

I used to put money in a mutual fund, but the investment firm got bought out by Charles and Schwab so I put money in their ETFs now and some in individual stocks.
