My only perf mod ('15 GT PP) is the Steeda 93 tune. While others may be looking for power gains, and might have reviewed impressions under aggressive driving, I was looking for jerk-free throttle response (no allusion intended) through the rev range. On my previous '12 S197 5.0, I'd inherited Lund and JLT tunes, with intake, from the prev. owner. While I enjoyed its power, the somewhat non-linear throttle response was deleterious to maintaining steady throttle mid–corner.
Those complaints have been resolved in my S550 with the Steeda tune. The fulsome way the torque curve has been lifted is noticeable when short-shifting around populated areas. At higher speeds, the stock program's relative lack of top-gear responsiveness is put into contrast — not knocking the Ford engineers (so to speak), no doubt they have to accommodate <93oct. fuel quality and emissions compliance. Steeda seems to improve transitional/passing performance in 6th at legal highway speeds (in the 2000-2500rpm range). Though it's early yet, and sampled <100 miles, I've noticed improved reported mpg, probably because of earlier shifts (or probably because of the placebo effect
).
Who else here has Steeda tune-only, or tune with the Steeda intake?
