Stainless braided fuel lines

I’m just curious about something. Braided stainless steel fuel lines used to be a thing. It seems they aren’t anymore, at least for newer cars...or at least for the S550. Why is that? I mean, why were (and still are) made for older cars, but not new ones?

And this is just idle curiosity, something that occurred to me.
