I would argue that the spacer is worthless. I would have to see dyno numbers to change my mind

Yeah, as far as power, I didn't really notice anything with the spacer I put in.... Honestly don't think they add any power, pretty sure they don't. But that is not to say that there was no differences in some other areas...

1-I did however notice a 1-2 mpg increase with the same driving habits.

2- The car used to bog down a bit when shifting fast from 1st to 2nd under full acceleration, and a little bit between 2nd-3rd as well. No idea why, after the spacer was installed I never had the lag again. And if you ask people around in this forum with stock MT V6s, they will confirm that small "hold back" between gears, which is gone now.

3-It makes a cool little induction noise. Which is just a plus really; not part of why it is worth the $80...

I can tell you exactly why that bog is gone, with the spacer it holds just that little more air in a space that wasnt there before, think of it as a small holding tank, so when you shift you still have that little bit of air left over in that space or tank to use right when you get back on it vs it having to pull a new full breath of air between shifts. If that makes any sense at all. Which is also why you are getting the extra mpg since the engine has to work just that sliver less hard to pull in the air from that extended space. Not to mention they design those to spin the air which they say does several things that you can search and read up on. Honestly I am suprised with the science behind it that it doesnt actually do more for an engine this day in age.

Thanks man! Sounds logical enough to be true... if that is the case, I wonder why they don't include things like these on stock cars. Nonetheless, I was impressed to see a type of gain out of something that looked like it wouldn't do much out of the box...

I would assume thats exactly why they dont, its an extra part/expense which doesnt have a big effect. To them its not worth it and to many people the time it takes to pay itself off isnt worth it. Not sure if it changes anything emissions wise either which could also be a problem since ford has to tune within a certain emissions range etc. its honeslty really hard to say. Howerever if you look at many race engines you will notice a slightly longer or open area right at the opening of the manifold in many racing manifolds. My guess is thats exactly what is trying to be achieved, though I could also be wrong. Like you said it is a logical thing to see it that way.
