Hi guys

My 2015 ecoboost guard color mustang should arrive soon in Belgium. I ordered it with the custom pack that comes with the "Side windows chrome surround" and "Nickel multi-spoke alloy wheel" like this :

As this is a bit too astonmartinish for my taste,I asked my dealer to paint my wheels in black (no problem). My purpose it to get this :

The problem are those "Side windows chrome surround" I personally don't like. I think it will look weird if I have black wheels and chrome side windows together. My dealer said you cannot replace them by the black "plastic" ones or paint them. He said I could apply a black vynil on them though...

What are your opinions about that and do you personally like the chrome side windows ?

Thanks

Chrome looks cheap so change it... I was not ware it was possible so I unfortunately did not take the custom pack.
Possible to paint it, to put vinyls on it or to plasti dip.
I think in several topics you can find details of this.

I have to say that I really like the chrome around the window on my white.
That's being said, I never liked the nickel alloy wheels...

It really depends on the car and the feeling you have with it.

I'd say, first paint your wheels black, then have a look at your car and think of doing the chrome trim black or not.

Then, as kris said, a lot of possibilities you have to made the trim black.

Ask also YLA G, he makes it on his CO.

Plastidip it, there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube. If you screw up, just peel it down and plastidip again.

BTW, I'm thinking about doing the same. My car is Guard Green with chrome surround and light wheels. How is your dealer gonna paint the wheels? I want them black as exactly on the second picture you posted but I was told that painted wheels tend to peel of after some time and no paint ever will last and look good in the long term. So I'm a bit confused whether to do it or not.

My dealer will paint the wheels for me (they have a deal with a specialist) so I have no idea yet how they will proceed. But I intend to ask before they do it for sure :-)

Saw RMS550's car in reality and it's great, that's how a black one should look like if you ask me.

One point needs a swap still, these ugly amber side markers :D

Side window Louvres are a great option on black as well !!

After seeing RMS550's car live i can also only agree.

But, do not plastidip it. Its basically a cheap and nasty solution that you will soon have to redo. Covering in vinyl is much better and lasts much much longer. I asked a company and were quoted EUR 300 for it.
