I was wondering if anyone has this same issue with the side window vents. When I turn the heater on and switch the vent to foot well only (to keep my feet warm), air comes out of the side window defroster vents at full strength. I was wondering if this was normal?

M 2016 has this, and I'm convinced it's a blend door issue, because -if you select the vents (blowing in your face) - the defrost + doors goes completely off. So why not when you select floor??

I'll be adding that to my growing list along with door mirrors popping...horn dying...drivers door hard to close and buzzing from various inside areas.

Poor job, FoMoCo.

Thanks ronemca. I guess it must be normal, but it sure bothers me because the door vents are blowing more air than the floor vents and my face starts burning up before my feet get warm. I also noticed that when I select the vents blowing in my face that the defrost and door vents are completely off. I thought there was something wrong with the vents, but I guess it's a design flaw.

Well - I think it's both. I intend to challenge the dealer about it...but I fully expect him to tell me that it is working as it was designed to. I do have some hands-on experience with issues like this, and - IMO - if it wasn't working properly, there would be more dramatic anomalies.

But I still don't like or understand it!

It's pretty normal.
They don't fully close on the sides to keep the windows from fogging as well as cold air draft from the glass.
Some cars like my FJ Cruiser never shuts the side front vents even in foot well mode.
