What is the purpose of this shroud, to funnel air? I am going to be using an intercooler for a turbo can I remove it? Good or bad?

What is the purpose of this shroud, to funnel air? I am going to be using an intercooler for a turbo can I remove it? Good or bad?

I believe the purpose of that design is to prevent too much air from getting under the hood in high speed conditions and causing the front end to get light. Probably effecting the handling of the car in a negative manner.

That’s what I thought. I have seen some with and without. Maybe for 1/4 mile runs they don’t use it
