Could anyone tell me what is the max. capacity size for the SD card slot in the Shaker audio system?

I'm looking at two different cars. The Mustang has the option for an SD card (the other doesn't). I'd like to know if I could put in a 64GB SD card full of mp3's, turn on the car, and be able to play any of the music on that card. Each album would be in its own folder.
If it does work like that, is it slow? Can it read properly? Would a 64GB even work? Etc, etc.

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

You know I have that option on my card and didn't even think to try it. I have a 2gb card somewhere around here. I'll load a couple of albums and report back. Not sure how much storage it will support though.

Damn, I can't find that card man. I tell you what, unless someone beats me to it I will post tomorrow. If it works well, I'd rather just use an SD card than sync my phone to the car everyday (the bluetooth connectivity does work great, though).

Exactly my thoughts!
I have a 64GB card on my phone with most of my music.
Instead of having to use my phone, I would like to insert another 64GB card into the car with my music, and just leave it there. Since it's part of the car, I'm HOPING the steering controls would allow me to navigate through the SD card music folders.

I have a 32GB card full of music that works great. The car indexes the card in the background while you play music. Then, you can sort the music by song, artist, album, etc. Sounds better than bluetooth or Sirius too.

That is great news!! By any chance, can you sort by genre? And are you able to navigate through the SD card via the steering controls?

Yes, if the music files have the genre noted in the file info. Navigating from the steering wheel controls works for skipping forward and back between songs, but real sorting and browsing happens from the touch screen. You can also just have it randomly select songs from the whole card.

I was pretty disappointed when I tried using a SanDisk 32GB SDHC card. It worked most of the time, but I had some really frustrating episodes of music skipping, not restarting, and random re-indexing. I replaced that with a SanDisk Cruzer Fit 32GB USB flash drive (same music, same files), and it's worked flawlessly. That Cruzer Fit is tiny -- it only sticks out of the slot 1/4" or so (it's actually a little hard to get in and out, it's so small).

Interesting. Thank you for your feedback.
Doesn't necessarily have to be an SD card. Just something that I could load all the music on, plug it into the car, and never really have a need to take it out again (except maybe to load more music). That would be ideal.

Can someone test what happens in case of video files?

Does it support i.e. .mkv, mp4, avi

Also, does it support NTFS formatted sdcard or only FAT32?

keep in mind, if you get the Navigation package you use the SD card slot for that. I use a 32GB small form USB for music. You can even use 2 at the same time (in the 2 different USB slots)
