I am also in San Diego! Just got here about two weeks ago from Japan. Finally bought my Magnetic Metallic GT premium about a week ago. Although is still completely stock for now I am willing to meet up sometime.

Thanks. I've been seeing a trend of not putting the front plate on the cars in Cali. What's your guys take on this? I was thinking of removing it until I bought the sto and show.

If its drilled already, I would recommend leaving it until you buy your sto n show. No reason to give local LE a reason to pull you over.

I lasted about 3 months with out one, then cop pulls me over for no reason and his explanation was, no front plate give him the right to harrassment me. Now the ugly plate it back on, thinking of a Euro plate for the front and install it in the lower grill

Dont take it personal. They use it as probable cause to pull you over. They want to see if you're under the influence or if you have anything going on inside the car (weapons, drugs, alcohol, etc.). They dont actually care about your front plate.

I haven't had a front plate for years. I get a ticket every now and then, but just pay it without putting the plate on-- they don't seem to care. I get harassed for my tint much more!

Window tint will definitely do it. Again, mainly used for probable cause. My suggestion is to always be polite. If the PO wants to, he can find two or three CVC violation on your car. A lot of vehicles produced and sold are not California Vehicle Code compliant. From the Corvette's exhaust to the Viper's wheels not having mud flaps. And there are many many more examples. Dealers should be drilling the front plate in and yet they dont. Im glad they didnt on my GT, but its just a point I'm trying to make.

You don't get points on your record or anything like that for this sort of thing, right? Just pay the ticket? I worry about my tint sometimes, and it's only 35%.

No points. Its a citation, not a true violation like speeding or making an unsafe turn.

No points. It's a bit expensive, but I have always just paid tinted window and plate tickets. The fines average about $150. Seems to be a loophole that you actually don't have to "fix" fixit tickets.

Crazy windy weather going on in San Diego right now. Started this afternoon and the forecast says it will be strongest through early tomorrow morning, esp by the coast (we are about a mile away). One lady down in Pacific Beach died this afternoon when a tree fell on her - as she was driving. :(

We just went outside to check it out and the trash cans were in disarray. The house is more or less safe from any giant falling trees, but my street out of this neighborhood gets covered with limbs and fronds and junk during a regular storm. You always hear chainsaws come out the following day.

As I reached the end of the hall by the front door, the door connecting the foyer to the garage was wide open from the wind; guess it wasn't latched 100%. No wonder it got so damn cold in here

Should be interesting when I leave for work in Mira Mesa at 5:30am tomorrow. My beloved car is safe in the garage...for now...:ninja:

I live in Imperial Beach. Sirens have been wailing all afternoon and evening. A lot of accidents, I guess. There's trash, tree branches and palm leaves up and down the street. And it will most likely be raining in the morning. You and I leave for work at the same time.

Odd...have heard no sirens...maybe the wind is too loud....because I have the fire department pretty much across the street!

Stay safe tomorrow morning!
