Anyone else get a sort of burning (bit metallically), smell when they get out of their car. It's like the exhaust is burning in. I've only done about 150 miles so far and it's had the wiring room recall done.

I had it too and put it down to all the crap they spray on in Belgium... Still can't make out why they bother with it... Looks to me they miss where it should be and spray it on all the bits like the exhaust and diff... Noticed today that they even managed to get some on the rear painted splitter as well... :(

Bunch on Muppets spring to mind!

Hi there

Its the underseal as the idiots spray more on the exhaust than the underside of the car, lol.

My car smelt like it was about to go up in flames at any moment, changed the exhaust and smell went away. :)

When you put these cars on a lift its obvious that the underbody protection has not been applied by caring dedicated professionals. Most of the smell is the wax bitumen coating burning off high temp components.

Having said that you always get a certain smell when new components are bedding in on new engines if you could bottle it many of us petrolheads would buy it.Well i would.

Yes, I have it. A thousand miles later it's still there. It used to be thick enough to give me a headache and make me feel sick, after about 400 miles that went away and it got a little easier to live with, after about 800 miles it was only really there when I caned it, and now, after 1000 miles I can only smell a hint of it when I've been a naughty boy and the manifolds are glowing, basically.

It'll go away, but man is it pungent in the beginning.

Will be gone within 500 miles.

Cheers guys, did 150 miles today so hopefully with a few more miles it will be gone, failing that I'll bang on a performance exhaust.
