Posing along side recently restored Southern Pacific 1195 on a nice but overcast January
day.
EMD SW9 was originaly built around 1953 and rebuit in 1974 into an SW900E. She sports a 12 cylinder 567E (567 inches per cylinder) diesel engine producing 1200hp. She weighs a modest 124 tons.
Yes, She has a killer exhaust note.
The locomotive has been recently restored by the Niles Canyon Railway in the S.F bay area in California.
