Do you guys think a Roush Quad tip axel back exhaust could possible work with a GT350 Valence?

Also, does roush make full cat backs or only Axel Backs?

Don't see catbacks on their website.

Thanks.

Having had the GT350 valance/exhaust on my last car and Roush quads on my current car I would say not without modifications.

Jmeo,

I really wanted to get the GT350 Valence and FR by Borla Touring Exhaust (Catback or Axel back), but listening more and more to the Roush exhausts, they just sound so awesome, at least they do on video.

Have not heard any of them in person yet.

Which exhaust did you have paired up with the GT350 Valence on your previous car, Sport or Touring?

So do you like the Roush better now?

Lastly, do you have the active system or the Passive Roush Quad Tip?

I am assuming the Passive Roush Quad Tip with the block plate removed is the same as having the exhaust set to track on the active system (Fully open).

I had touring setup which to me was too quiet normally even with headers.

I love the Roush WAY more than the Borla/GT350 kit. I also installed and X pipe in place of the factory resonator. Much much deeper than GT350 kit, way more aggressive and overall nicer sound.

I have the "active" kit which is brilliant. I love being able to dial it down when I want and I will bet my neighbors are happy as well.

If you open the block off it will be like "track" mode on active kit. "Sport" mode for me is all 4 open under idle to say 3,000 rpm then the outer ports partially close via the valve preventing the car from hitting obnoxious levels.

Touring is 2 open, 2 closed.

This is the best sounding exhaust I have ever had or heard.

I have a Borla mid muffler on deck to replace my Borla X pipe if it gets too crazy loud once the headers are installed.

Yea I think I am leaning more towards the Roush Quad Setup now also.

They are both pricey options for sure.

Did you install the full exhaust yourself or had a shop install for you.

If you had a shop install, how much did they charge to install the exhaust with the active setup?

Yes, definitely pricey. Most people won't even consider just the passive exhaust setup because it's only "axle back" and uses the stock resonator. What I did was use a Borla X pipe & mid pipes from a "Touring" cat back setup. I cut the Borla mid pipes to accept the Roush axle backs, not the stock setup. This way I can have the X pipe with a more aggressive sound but still be able to swap in the Borla mid muffler in place of the X pipe incase it gets too loud when my headers go in. The mid muffler and X pipe are completely interchangeable with zero modifications. I could have saved some cash if I just cut into the factory exhaust like the kit is designed, then got any "cut and clamp" X or H pipe to replace the factory resonator but I wanted the option of swapping into the Borla mid muffler if too loud with headers. If I used a cut & clamp X pipe I would not have been able to do so. Luckily for me I was able to work out a deal with the person I sold my GT350 kit to. I kept his Borla mid muffler & mid pipes from his Borla Touring kit and he just sold the mufflers as an axle back kit.

I will say the Roush kit alone is expensive for a reason. It is 304 stainless where most companies use 409 and the fit & finish is the best I've seen ever. It comes with brackets that need to be installed to put rear hangers on the mufflers (heavy) and then it has heat shields to cover the rear swaybar bushings. These are needed because the dual inlet into the muffler puts a hot exhaust directly over the rubber bushing which would otherwise lead to heart damage.

The "Active"add on follows suite with top of the line build quality. The harness is OEM factory grade stuff, comes with absolutely everything you could imagine right down to some pretty freaking cool self mounting zip ties. The exhaust dumps/valves are the best available and it has some OEM quality modules and even ties into the OBDII port to work with the engine RPM for custom valve action at certain RPMs.

This kit is expensive but you really do get what you pay for and I am convinced this kit is the foundation for the same exact stuff thats on the GT350. I would bet money they are the same exact parts. Top of the line.

I did do the install myself, it is very self explanatory and most anyone should be able to do it themselves. Check out my build thread, I have some pictures of the install and if you do go this route hit me up as I have some insight on the mounting of the rear muffler hanger brackets that will help clarify things and help you get it right the first time. Ask me how I know lol.

Do you think there is much difference in sound between the Roush Quad Tips and Single Tip Axel Backs?

I have never heard single tips in person but from what I've heard via sound clips the quads with all 4 open sound very similar to them.

The control knob that controls the valve from inside the car, typically that is mounted right next to the shifter but do you think that could be mounted somewhere inside the center compartment?

I am assuming you have that control knob installed and in the default location that Roush usually installs it?

Thanks

You can install it anywhere, just has to have enough space to fit. You drill the holes for the screws.

Agreed, just need to have the room below where ever you want it to house the circuitry
