Just completed a 2,500 mile road trip (Tuesday through Saturday). Bought a 2019 GT350R Oxford White, matt blue stripe, carbon dash, electronic package, from a dealer in Indiana. Drove it back to Seattle with a stops in Chicago, Fargo, Roosevelt national park, Great Falls then home. Averaged 21 miles per gallon, no oil use, ran flawlessly. The new Recaro seats are actually very comfortable on a long trip. The only bummer is that the passenger seats don't high adjust like the driver seat does. The passenger sits pretty low in the car. I had the front splitter removed for the trip and put Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 315-30 / 325-30 and a Ford performance front tow hook on the car for the trip. The splitter and Cup2 tires were shipped back to Seattle. Before the trip a forum member advised me to put temporary track tape on the front end....I did and it worked great. I also bought rocker panel rock blockers that also worked great. I spent yesterday cleaning her up and now I am ready for my first oil change and have the splitter reinstalled. In 2,500 miles of driving I only saw one other GT350 traveling the opposite direction on the highway. Every Corvette encountered on the trip wanted to flex their muscle on the highway.
At the same time I am having the oil changed and splitter reinstalled I will have jack rails installed and will have the car detailed and front end clear wrapped. I also will install my fire extinguisher, new carbon fiber coil covers, Watson role bar and harnesses, new Ford Performance air intake filter. I am having some side rocker panel stripes made in the same Kona matt blue as the over the top stripe. Will need to install those before the clear wrap goes on. All in all very pleased so far with my purchase.
No better way to get to know a new car than to take a road trip.

Welcome to the fun club. Good way to shake out any bugs is to drive the car. Bring it out to our Mustang track day, Mustangs Northwest and meet a bunch of GT350 drivers. The only thing I would recommend related to what you propose to do is the coil covers. Don't! Remove any engine covers, etc. that trap heat to enable the engine to vent. Heat is a killer. Again, welcome from Bothell!

I am a former long time Porsche guy ( 964, Carrera, Cayman R) and belong to the local Porsche club and have years of DE track days with them. Look forward to checking out the GT 350 community. I live in Kenmore by St Edwards Park.

Great story! I just bought a brand new 2019 GT/CS and desperately need to put some miles on it. I WFH so, no daily commute for me.... purely cruise and road trips. Finding the time (for both wife & I), someone to watch the dogs, and actually picking a destination is the toughest part. But yes, with only 650 miles on my now two month old car, I need to break this thing in and get it to it's first oil change of sweet synthetic at about 2500 miles.

How was Great Falls? I lived there for a few years...

We probably know each other. I'm one of the PCA/BMW instructors around here.
