RIP my 2005 Whippled GT

Today it is with a sad heart I lay my last car to rest. I sold this to my good friend and fellow firefighter when I bought my 2015 and I was so happy to keep her in the family.

My dad died unexpectedly in March 2010 and I purchased the 2005 in May there after. I spent the next 4+ years modding and enjoying the car wishing my dad was there to help. He was a career mechanic and taught me all I know about mechanics. I knew how proud he would be of the car and it made me feel good inside. This car helped me through a very hard time and holds a very special place in my heart. This is why it was a great feeling to know it would still be in the family (kinda).

And yes my friend is perfectly fine with only some flash burns on his wrists from the airbag and a seatbelt bruise. He is very lucky and I wholeheartedly believe my dad was looking out for him, possibly riding shotgun.

lol, yes it does. I think the plan is to keep the car, strip it of what parts are still good and transplant them into a new build so that's good I guess.

Can we ask what happened?
And where in Mass are you? One of your older posts made me think you live awfully close to where I grew up, something about 10 mins from Schaefer/Sullivan/Foxboro/Gillette Stadium. I did not grow up in Foxboro, one of the bordering towns though and spent my high school summers working at Great Woods.

He was driving home on a back road that is all torn up from getting new water mains and when he was rounding a turn there was a car coming the other way on the wrong side of the road. He had to swerve right to not hit it head on and because of gravel, lost control of the car and was thrown off road into a tree.


I live in Plainville which as you know is only 2 towns south of Foxboro.

Plainville, I lost a few nights at Fitzy's Pub back in the day. Growing up, the only McDonald's around was in Plainville, that's where we had to go to get our Big Mac fixes until they build one in Norton.

Ah, McDonalds. Worked there when I was 15 and saved the money needed to buy my first car, a 1967 Mustang coupe
