So I had a minor scrape to the passenger side of my stang. I'm not a paint a body guy, so I didn't know what to expect when getting a quote today. Ill be paying out of pocket for the damage, as to steer clear of my premium going up. Below is the damage my car has, and the quote I was given. The quote is for labor and material only as I didn't need new parts. Does this seem ridiculously high to anyone for the damage?

I had a ding in my door, where a valet opened it into the running board of a lifted truck. The edge of the door, about 6" below the door handle was bent in. I was quoted over $700 for the repair. Biggest expense was the labor involved to remove the door handle, tail light, etc. to shoot new clear coat on the entire door and rear quarter so it would all match right. (the casino paid, btw).

Short answer: No, it isn't surprisingly high. But get a few more quotes; it might come down $150 or so. Or find a guy doing it on the side, but then you risk it being screwed up and not having a legit shop stand behind the work...

Try to find a used bumper on eBay, they would only have to fix the fender then but you may get dinged for labor with removing and reinstalling the bumper.

I had something in the exact same spot but not as bad on the fender. New bumper was $300.

Does the shop know you're paying out of pocket and not going through insurance? If not, ask them what the cash price is for the repair. I don't know if it's the norm everywhere, a regional thing, shop thing, or what, but shops in my area significantly mark up the price when it's an insurance claim.

I actually called and asked him about this. He said 700 in cash and he would do it. Definitely doesn't hurt to Ask! I'm happy with it.

I think that is a very fair price.

My SUV had a bad scrape in the quarter panel and rust was starting to form. Had it repaired and repainted for 320 dollars WITHOUT spraying/blending in the surrounding areas. If I had done all that it would have been close to 1,000 dollars. Just an FYI.

I pretty much had the same exact damage on my ecoboost, I will try and find the invoice for the work... if I still have it.

I don't recall paying that much though, pretty sure it was less than $600.

This quote is very reasonable...
It's actually quite cheap.
Clarify all of the repair details to ensure that you are satisfied with the end result.

Remember region also has an effect on repair costs. Where I live (DC Metro area) everything is higher then in some place like Des Moines ,Iowa
