Im trying to figure out whats going on with the rear bumper. I noticed on a lot of the base cars they just have the center section of the rear bumper painted and the rest it black, while on a lot of the premium or performance pkg cars they have the whole bumper color matched. Then Ive see a few Performance Pkg Fully Loaded cars with just the center section paint matched, not the entire bumper. Is there any rhyme or reason to this?? Looking to order a car soon and want to make sure if there is an option to choose I do take advantage....

Color matched bumper = base
Black inserts ( diffuser ) = premium

Performance pack has no bearing on the bumper.

Good news!
And it's confirmation that Robb (Clearwater FLA) was correct—i.e., that our base silver GT's with PP will indeed have a color-matched rear end instead of that less attractive [to my eyes] black insert!

Haven't seen that opinion yet! I don't really care for the color matched bumper, but it's tolerable with the darker colors. If I was going with either red, CO, DIB, silver, or white, it would have to go.

It's funny, the trend was always black lower trim, door handles, bumpers, etc. and used to mean entry level models and body colored was upper level package features. it seems kinda backwards here. I can see the style and taste differences, but I'm also glad my base will be all one color. Now I'm wondering what the rocker panels and front skirt would look like painted, probably rough after some road rash lol.

And every body NEEDED the black insert back in 2005/2006 when the rear was painted. Now it has the black insert and everybody wants to paint it to match the body color.

I think the rear end looks MUCH better with the black accent above the diffuser.

But... I'm glad everybody has different tastes, otherwise there would be tons of cars just like mine driving around... and I wouldn't want that! :)

The 2015 Mustang has very handsome, clean and classy sculptural lines. Such cars are not—to my eyes—improved by the use of different colors for different sections of the car. To my eyes the added color [black] is in effect not an addition but rather a subtraction, aesthetically speaking.

But of course others see things differently, so take your pick. I prefer the latter.

Edit: I see that the Mustang in the former shot is not a GT; however, the photo nevertheless illustrates the point.

The base does not technically have a diffuser to help straighten the air flow (as the premium does with the fins).

It's not added for cosmetics. That's a diffuser.

The diffuser is the lower painted piece. With fins on the premium, without fins on the base. That's why I said it isn't technically a diffuser on the base... because a diffuser helps straighten air flow, reducing pressure under the car...

Here's a picture of the rear end of my car... again, my opinion, but I think the black really breaks up the silver nicely.

Just random. :)

I'm not too fond of my license plate frame... and chrome doesn't look good either. Hmmm...
