New York is a strange state. There are two parts, Upstate which believe it or not, can be very conservative. Think Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, & Rochester. And, of course, Downstate. New York City, Long Island Orange, & Westchester counties. Mainly Democratic. Plenty of loonies all around. Socialists not so much, accept of course AOC. Every family has one. Communists, no. That is fake news at its best. New York State is one of the richest overall but it certainly does have its share of poverty. The town I grew up in (along with Mr. T) was one of the richest in New York City. I lived on the poor side of the tracks in that town. Almost 100% Democratic. Funny though back in the 60's and 70's you were either Democratic or Republican. Conservative and Liberal really weren't words that were used much. Not until Barry Goldwater ran for president in 64' did you hear much about Conservatives. Today he would be considered a Socialist. Crazy world.

My best friend was a cop (that's what we call them back then). The prototypical Irish cop that you see on TV. He was a hell of a guy but tough as nails. I grew up respecting the police even if they weren't perfect (no, not even back then). But they do protect their own, which is where today's issues are coming from. The NYPD is one of the greatest law enforcement agencies in the world. It is a shame that the great majority of them are tainted by the few bad apples. Believe me when I tell you most New Yorkers feel as I do.

I don't believe either party as a whole truly cares about everyone. However, there are plenty of officials on both sides of the aisle who do care about their ideologies and have their own set of morals outside of greed. I am in favor of moving past the two-party system, but you must understand that it is extremely difficult to do what is best for both rural, urban, and industrial America.

Who is a communist? I don't know of any official who is getting a lot of votes who wants to do away with our capitalistic economy. I would love for you to provide evidence for this claim. It would seem you have a dogma to spread. People on the left have a strong drive towards egalitarianism (very strong relative to those on the right.) They value everyone's right to expression, power, and resources equally and will attempt to make them equal if they are not already. Whereas people on the right are more driven by authority hierarchies because they are attuned to seeking strong social orders, this is why they tend to fall in line and don't complain too much.
