Planning on getting some paint done, and had a few thoughts in my head. Mostly, I want to add some black to my Oxford White car - mainly mirror covers, spoiler, and roof. A roll of black masking tape helped me to visualize.

I had a thought to only paint the wing part of the performance pack spoiler black, and leave the center pedestal and the side pieces that connect the wing to the trunk lid. Once I saw the mock-up, I changed my mind. All parts of the spoiler will be black.

The roof is a different story. I'm not sure I want the traditional roof paint job, as if I had ordered that as an option. I still may go that way, but I don't like that you can't see much black from the side. Since my idea was to emulate the vinyl black roof I once had on my '69 Grande, I decided to tape off the top side rails (?) and A and C pillar areas. I kind of like it, at least the concept. I need to talk to my painter to see how he'd suggest running the line between black and white in the back.

Oh yeah, and the deck lid will be painted Oxford White. In the pictures above, it's temporarily covered with vinyl.

I love the Mustang letters on the back, great idea! I also like the idea of a black “vinyl” roof. I would take the lowest part off so it’s even with the door.
Where in Md are you located? I’m in Potomac and always looking for others near by to some cruises with.

Yeah, the first attempt was more of a proof of concept and it passed. I knew going under the window wasn't going to work once I stepped back. It's gotta come off the window line. Here's where I'm at now. I'm going back to the paint shop next week to get their opinion, but I think it'll be something like this. Obviously, you gotta imagine the entire roof black.

Laying out the tape was a great idea. Along those lines, once you've settled on the overall concept, have you considered a wrap instead of paint for those areas? I can see several advantages with a wrap vice paint.

I have, but got stuck on the paint idea. I should at least look into that, too. There seems to be a pretty decent place near me that does custom vehicle wraps. What advantages, other than removability?

Primarily removability, yes.

You may want to adjust later, or remove entirely.

When/if sold, the future owner has the option to easily return back to previous.

I'd also think a wrap across a small area would be a more forgiving & easier installation.
