Going to get rid of the crappy Pirellis soon, I see this question come up alot on here, It would be nice if everyone coukd post their setup and some pictures.
Thinking of going with 275/35 and 285/35 S-04s on the PP wheels
Just depends on your performance requirements of the car. Doing a lot of research online the best summer tire, in OEM tire diameter, is the Michelin PSS. It is classed just a little under Direzza ZII starspecs and Bridgestone R71's. According to one test i saw they are better than the original RS3 and old Direzza Z1's, I haven't seen a new comparison of the latest iteration of that tire. Even being better than those older tires, it is truly saying a lot. Especially for it being in a lower tier with a dual compound. They will be my next tire.
A lot of people are happy with the Conti ExtremeContact DW for daily driving. From what I understand better than the Pirelli's.
I don't think I'll ever get pirelli's again. Even aside of my recent issue with them, I just haven't been satisfied with them really at all.
I would take those with a grain of salt for most of those tires. A lot of variables in basing decisions off user reviews vs measured tests. I would mostly agree with the general ranking of the max summer tires though. I trust those rankings more for daily driving values rather than a true indication of performance. Thinks like noise, comfort, snow/ice/wet. Just not enough people really push there tires enough in dry weather to get a sensible gauge considering how many reviews there are.
Extreme summer tires are normally on a completely different level than summer tires though, except a few exceptional Max summer tires like the PSS'. Even the Conti's don't really compare to them.
