Wo I'm completely new to being a car enthusiast but I'm doing research and still working at becoming more familiar with parts and what they do as part of due diligence I'm coming here with a question. What are the actual benefits to a performance radiator over stock? More specifically the Mishimoto performance radiator.
Thanks in advance!

Performance radiator will tend to keep the car cooler , but if your looking for performance id go with a aftermarket intercooler first . The stock radiator works just fine, I haven't seen too many people if any at all change their radiator on here at all

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! I already have a Mishimoto performance intercooler installed. I was just wondering if the benefits of a performance radiator are worth the cost. Do you know how big the benefits actually are?

I don't think there much benefits at all besides more cooling capacity over your stock radiator , but for the price I believe mishimoto is around 500 bucks , don't think it's worth it at all

Okay thanks for the info, so do you think its more beneficial to open up the airflow with an exhaust or even to get a hood with functioning ram air scoops rather than get a performance radiator? By the way I already have a 3in catless down pipe.

You have a tune for the 3in catless? Any check engine light?
Cobb stage 2 93 octane map. I get the P0420 every now and the because that tune was developed with catted downpipes in mind. I'd have to get a customs tune to get rid of it forever.

Upgraded mine since I was already getting the oil cooler and coolant expansion tanks

I don't notice too much of a difference, but at least I got the peace of mind knowing it's been upgraded

Peace of mind would be the main reason I got it lol! Just not sure if I should get it before I get an exhaust and jump to stage 3. What would you do?

The radiators in most newer cars seem to be pretty efficient, and in our cars the stock radiator works very well, especially with proper factory ducting. I wouldn't use the money on a aftermarket radiator but maybe look into a lower temp thermostat or even oil cooler depending on what plans our with the car, just my 2 cents.

Hey Nadomokos,

Thank you for the reply.

There are many benefits to our performance radiator for your vehicle. There will be a increase in cooling capacity, coolant overflow, and air surface area. Also it comes with a magnetic drain plug and features a 3 row core. All of this is backed by our Lifetime Warranty.

For any additional information, please contact us via live chat, phone, or at [email protected]

Best Regards,
Mishimoto

Full-Race will have the most bad ass radiator available VERY soon. It even has provisions for a oil cooler to be added if using a front mounted intercooler. Keep an eye out for that one.

Sounds like a track worthy setup, I like the idea of provisioning for an oil cooler, which seems to be the second biggest issue other than the IC for track like use.
