Parking Brake warning light

Hey guys, I'm experiencing the warning light coming on randomly for the hand brake when driving. I'm sure it's fully disengaged. If I push down on the handle the light goes away, lift and if comes back accompanied by the warning notification in on the dash center-screen.

Anyone know how to adjust the hand brake so this isn't happening?

Car has 221 miles on it. Picked it up last Wednesday.

Made a service appointment for wednseday we'll see what they say.

Someone else had this issue, I don't know what exactly happened but I think the dealer replaced the whole hand brake assembly under warranty and the problem was fixed.

Thanks H1 that's exactly what happened took it in twice once to get it adjusted worked for a day then replaced its night and day compared to how it used to feel.

Thanks guys. At the Dealer now. Service writer wanted to blame it on the car being lowered. We'll see what the techs say later today.

Car's back. Tech tightened the parking brake cable. They are also ordering a sensor & will be replacing that. Warning light didn't come on at all on the ride home. Upside is every employee of that dealership came into service to see the car. ;)

Glad it's fixed!

I noticed today on mine that when the brake is down, there is some free movement down and up and if nudged up enough may cause the light to come on. My right leg does lean on it so it's just a matter of time before the light will start to come on. :frusty:

Same thing with mine. Tech tightened it. Now it's like curling a 40lb weight when I pull it up

Doesnt the parking brake light also come on if brake fluid is low?
