So the Xpel PPF is going to be great protection against things like rock chips, road debris, etc.

Where PPF fails, is the protection against acidic things like bird poop, love bugs, etc.

This is where the coatings come in, over top of the PPF, is that the coating goes on over the PPF and protects the PPF (and the rest of the untreated paint job, too) against the acidic items. It also provides a much cleaner car, for much longer, because it makes the dirt and water roll right off the car, so there is no water for the dirt to cling to.

I can't remember exactly but I think auto paint guard quoted me around 3K for xpel and a nannoguad

Or just do front Xpel and the whole car with a coating (ie Opticoat) .

I just had them do my wife's 2016 Explorer Sport.

I opted for the front end PPF and the whole vehicle ceramic coating. For me, it was a matter of budget. To wrap the entire car, and the ceramic coat the entire wrapped vehicle - would've been twice the cost of what I invested.

When I was working there, we did have several customers do full wraps on their vehicles. Primarily Tesla owners, Ferrari owners, etc. Many of them would do the ceramic coating over the PPF for the added protection.
