I notice BigWorm says their full length S550 stripes have a "slight" taper at the front and am trying to understand what that's about. They say all of Ford's and Shelby America's stripes are also narrower at the front of the hood.

I can sort of understand it for the 2018-19 because the stripes can be very close to the vents which seem to be parallel to each other. So would probably look better for the stripes to be parallel to the scoops. But on the 2015-17, the hood lines closest to the stripes are the raised spears and those aren't even close to being parallel to each other and are also curved, so stripes couldn't be parallel to those anyway.

So what's the story?

Also, for those with BigWorm stripes, how much narrower are they at the front of the hood compared to the back of the hood?

Maybe BigWorm is right about their stripes tapering although nobody with them has confirmed that.

So I grabbed some pics off the web of Shelby's 50th Anniversary cars and measured the width of the stripes on the front and on the rear bumpers. Both are the same 18" total width for the center and two side stripes. There is no taper. So Bigworm is wrong about the Shelby stripes tapering but more importantly, they are wrong about stripes looking bad if they aren't tapered.

I calibrated the ruler in Photoshop to a 12" width for the rear license plate and 42.75" for the widest point of the front bumper upper grill cutout.

50th Anniversary total stripe width on front bumper based on grill width of 42.75 inches.jpg
50th Anniversary total stripe width on rear bumper based on plate width of 12 inches.jpg

Would still like to hear from people with stripes the width at the back of the hood and at the front of the hood and where the stripes were bought.

Which one of our stripe kits are you wanting? Narrow, wide, supersnake style, etc will all be different. If you call or email we can tell you front and back width on any of our stripe kits.
