the site allows for it for sure but its quite a job , we don't have a full time person sitting here just doing the website so in between other work it would be a bit of a mission to recategorize from the way we have it to a new systemshould be fairly easy i've never seen an ecommerce package yet that doesn't allow categorisation of products
does the system not have bulk importers and exporters if it can export datasets out its probably easier to fiddle with them in excel then re-import to adjust in system failing that it can always be done directly in db one query updates thousands of products just need to know the keysthe site allows for it for sure but its quite a job , we don't have a full time person sitting here just doing the website so in between other work it would be a bit of a mission to recategorize from the way we have it to a new system
but for sure it can work , just need to decide how to tackle it without messing things up
hint hint, Hinch is offering to do it ;)does the system not have bulk importers and exporters if it can export datasets out its probably easier to fiddle with them in excel then re-import to adjust in system failing that it can always be done directly in db one query updates thousands of products just need to know the keysyour developer even if a 3rd party would be able to advise if there was a quick way to do it
thanks for the advice , gonna try and adapt the current setup first and see how we gocould try something like peopleperhour for a freelancer. whats the current package ?
when looking for new packages avoid magento its terrible you could use woocommerce its pretty simple but fairly limited, oscommerce is the original ecommerce package but its pretty old fashioned now and needs alot of work to make it work.
then there's the paid platforms where you have less control but they just work if you don't have in house things like shopify etc (there's dozens of them)
final solution would be to custom write something from scratch not a massive job tbh if you have a skilled developer on hand again freelance or in house would be fine. in house works out cheaper over periods of years vs freelance cheaper for small jobs.
what you after ? not all sections have discount available but many do , let me know what you are interested in and ill advise a suitable code you can use if discount availableHey Jason, Do you offer discounts to forum members? Seen something id like to buy.
That's perfect m8. BrillFor those of you interested and those that made the request , lets just say that we like to listen to our customers and accommodate where we can
There was some debate earlier in this thread about the prices on our website showing / not showing VAT
Well the facts are that the website always showed the VAT inclusive price but you had to follow the product link all the way to the final detail page to see that
As mentioned it was important for us to not remove the non VAT pricing and go fully VAT inclusive on all pages as this would compromise our overseas clients who like to know the VAT free price before they buy
A compromise has been found and the situation improved we hope , now you can see the inc VAT pricing one stage earlier on the site
heres an example
https://j-w-racing.co.uk/section.php/5111/1/stoptech
as you can see VAT free and VAT inc prices shown
or you can go one step further into the product details
https://j-w-racing.co.uk/product.php/11573/5111/stoptech_aerorotor_slotted_front_brake_rotor_kit_ford_mustang_2015_17_w__brembo_
let me know what you think , this is just one step in improving the site for you guys
by the way its purely coincidental that the listings shown above are a lovely set of uprated front rotors from StopTech for all S550s running the 380mm front brake setup ;)
cheers
