Morning
Hope you all had a great Christmas and wishing you all a Happy New Year.

I was wondering if anybody could help with this one.
The latest update from my dealer was:

'Unfortunately, there still no news yet BUT you're car has been locked in, which means that they should give us an approximate build date sometime soon. If there are any news, I will certainly let you know.'

Anyone have any idea what the time scale is?
What sort of car makes a grown man check his email 5 times a day for news,
have a countdown to an imaginary date on his phone, check out a spreadsheet for an average waiting time and generally troll through the Internet forums for any tidbit of information.
Not to mention customising a brand new car 8 months in advance???

 Get yourself a comfy seat, sit back and relax, from order to delivery @ 6-8 months. Manders will be along to take over your life in a minute ;)

Recent builds have been about 6 months from order date and about 8 months to delivery. A few exceptions but following all the orders about the same time as mine that was typical. You can see my signature for details of every step !

I know all of this but having ordered in September and the "order locked in" I thought that there might be a guide line to being issued an estimated build date. Perhaps other dealers don't give out this locked order detail or it would have been on previous threads or even the spread sheet

I have to be honest I have never heard of order locked in. My car didn't appear on any system ETIS / Research maniacs until I had a VIN and this didn't happen until about 7 weeks before build. ON ETIS I did see a retrospective order date of August although I ordered April It could be that that date was the first time it existed on any order tracking within Ford and it was about 10 weeks to build. THats the closest I could think it might be. However I would bet on a Feb. / March build?

Don't rely on dealer info unless they are getting it from
Karen and Stacey. [email protected] is all you need.

Hi,

Had the same sort of message from my dealer in Bristol also last week, my order was placed mid sept 16,

My message was,

"Unfortunately, there still no news yet BUT you're car has been locked in as I mentioned, which means that they should give us an approximate build date sometime soon. If there are any news, I will certainly let you know"

Must be a generic message they send out!

As slowhand 99 mentioned, best to ask [email protected], Stacey gets back to me within a day with an update,

Thanks Dave

Locked in means you cant make any more changes to the spec.

That means it has been allocated a build date at the factory.

Whether that date is 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months away is the question.

From experience, 'lock in' is usually about 4-6 weeks ahead of production, but sometimes longer and sometimes less.

Accurate, its not.

I've also got my order in with Ford in Ashton Gate, but not the same chap.

Perhaps we should organise a local meet once we all have our cars. I'm down in the Chew Valley.

Welcome to the world of waiting for your Mustang.

At least you know the spec, roughly when it will come and how much you will pay. Us mad idiots that put the first orders in had no idea of these!!!

Its worth it, trust me. You will rarely, if ever, look at another car and think "I should ave got one of them"

Oh yeh, and MandersMustang will have the answer to all your questions or will prompt someone else who does! He is like an excitable teenager waiting for someone to post on here that needs looking after.

Actually, he IS an excitable teenager!
