What Opitcoat version was it ( consumer or Pro )

Also who did your work? Certified Detailer by Opti Pro?

Ceramic Coating is the real deal but be cautious on who you use. The Pro versions is the one to get so always going to the company's official website and checking the Installers is important, very important.

From professional experience, since ceramic coating is the new trend and trust me when I say this, it's just starting and it's going to get stronger over the years with ceramic coatings having the self healing power very soon, already testing a few candidates, wax and sealants will be a thing of the past very soon, it's just a matter of time.

Research the not just the product but the company in this case (Installer) make sure that they are certified to use the coating and make sure it is the Pro version. Gyeon Quartz and Modesta Advanced Glass Coating is one of the best right now but Cquartz Finest and Opti Pro are good as well.

The prep work involved is what it makes it worth, so not just the coating.

You'd would be surprised how bad new cars are. Paint hammered, full of swirls and other paint defects. Black cars looking grey, white cars with no gloss and the lists goes and on.

All this shouldnt happen to begin with, no matter whether you have a corolla or a Lamborghini.

Protecting your vehicle for the long run it's worth the investiment for sure, it will pay for itself specially when you don't have to wax no more.

It was the Pro version and it was a certified dealer. He did prep it for a few hours.

Maybe I just need glasses or something. I detail my cars and leave them ultra shiny maybe that's why I wasn't impressed. Although I get the point that it's a semi-permanent coating and you don't have to wax anymore.

Maybe with time I'll change my mind.

How is any of this against deep scratches? I swear my car must be a magnet for stuff on I-95. I already had to get the top of the trunk repainted, and now I found another scratch into the metal on my drivers side haunch. If it's getting nicked that bad, how much more of a repair is it to get paint and then this stuff redone?

Highway isn't the easy at all thats why protecting the front end of your vehicle with a good clear bra film, highly suggest Xpel Ultimate Self Healing, for the entire front plus mirrors.

Now not all coatings are super scratch resistant at all, some are minor more like against wrong methods of washing but Modesta is proven to be better than any other coating in the market right now. Now to be realistic here, a rock if it to his your car, it will remove paint, so no coating will stop from damaging at all but motor scurff marks or some improper washing, it should help or in this case reduce the chances of seeing them.

Just my .02 since I have about a week in on a Modesta BC-04 over XPEL Ultimate on front fascia, lights, hood, and mirrors done by Francisco.

Now the car is white, which is difficult to get any pop or depth too, but in this case there is quite a bit. No, my wife could not use it as a makeup mirror like a black/dark paint, but that's just the nature of white paint - not mile deep perfect refection. It physics/science.

I'll grant that within a certain range, several of the top pro brands properly applied and maybe even a well done traditional waxing will look (near) equal day one, but my money was spent on the long haul protection, ease of maintenance, and long term durability of the coating. Only time will truly tell for your (or my) vehicle usage, so you spend your money and take you chances coupled with the reputation of the product and detailer.

Running a car through a commercial car wash is EZ ;-), but don't do it even if you don't seal the paint. Maybe true touchless with good filtered water and no color/clear coat wax applied - or just do it manually.

FYI Autogeek has a New Years sale that ends at midnight. Everything is 20% off with free shipping. I have been obsessing about coating my upcoming black GT350. I ordered DP coating, paint prep and tire gel. Not only was everything 20% off, the DP products are also BOGO.

So I'm going to say here most of these things that i see here come from a good clay, wash, and wax/polish. i use zaino and i found it great on my 07, it would take a full day and an additional coat makes it much better looking but in the end it would look like orange liquid candy. if you do ceramic and nano coats dont you need to wash and wax them anyway like normal, i suppose the purpose is to make it easier and protect the paint a little.

The biggest advantage of a coating is that it costs relatively the same as a good sealant or wax, but lasts 4-5x as long. Most coatings will be more hydrophobic than sealants/wax's as well.

So please take this as a genuine question as i have not looked too much into this. Are these coatings supposed to take place of normal waxes or do you still need to upkeep that as well? When i do a late summer final wax i can see beading usually until the end of winter, its an outdoor kept but very low milage daily driver. I will admit by easter time each year its ready for a good claybarding and some in depth TLC.
