Has anyone experienced (just) a wobble sound under heavy braking with no adverse effect? No wobble feel in the steering wheel, no shake and no loss of control?
The sound gets progressive louder as I keep my foot on the brakes, almost like the hotter the pads get (or rotor?) the worse it is.
I'm assuming it's the heat that does this because after I disengage the brakes for 1 or 2 seconds right after the sounds comes on and them slam them, the sound and intensity pickups up exactly where they left off. If however I cruise for say a minute and then hit the brakes, it takes a while for the wobble sound to come back on, almost like they've cooled and can now absorb more energy before overheating and manifesting that via this wobble sound.
My brake fluid is 2y old, the front rotors are about 6 months old and have ~15.000km on them and the pads are brand new (~200km on them, if that). I've never changed the hardware tho.
I could hear the same sound and intensity with the last pair of pads as well. I'm thinking it's maybe the rotor because the old pair I used wore the new rotor more on its edges thus leaving a very slight hump straight down the middle; but I'm not sure how this could cause any imbalance.
I cleaned both callipers best I could before mounting the new pads and I used no grease but I still used the original hardware.
Short of replacing everything ((more expensive) pads, OEM rotors, new HW), fluid, I'm fresh out of ideas.
