I recently completed the install of Lethal Performance's off road mid-pipes on my GT350 without tuning the car or throwing any codes. I used the second version that comes with a flex section. My goal was to make it louder and maintain the factory warranty. Below is a review and summary of the install process.

The stainless tubes were true to size. They measured 3" and transitioned down to 2.5". The welds looked like they we're MIG'd and painted over. Over all they looked very good.

The factory exhaust bolts were very tight and hard to get to. I had to remove both front tires. The hardest bolt was the upper passenger. I got at it from the top of the engine bay.

Don't forget to remove, clean, and reuse the factory steel gaskets.

The completed install. I used ARP thread lube on all the bolts and torqued the flange bolts to 15ft-lbs then to 37ft-lbs. The X-Pipe section was torqued to 35ft-lbs.

The O2 extensions are from Vibrant Performance P#11621. I used the smallest orifice when they were assembled. Loctite copper anti-seize was used on the O2 threads and the O2 extension threads.

No noticeable ground clearance was lost.

Here is a Youtube right after install.

Overall I am very happy with the mid-pipes. I can't feel any more vibrations but you can slightly hear some high pitch ringing with the windows down. Probably from loosing the mass dampers. These things are incredibly loud with the mufflers opened up. I would say its louder than my open header vehicles. Its almost so loud I feel uncomfortable driving in town (still going to do it though). The stock resonator and mufflers are still on the car.

The original sound of the car is there but it is slightly different. Can't really explain it. The install was a PIA but totally worth it.

I have put close to 100 miles on the car and it looks like the O2 extensions are doing a great job. I have let it idle for 10 minutes, cruised the interstate, and given it hell. So far no check engine light. If it ever does pop up, I'll update this thread.

I have never had much luck with O2 spacers they may stop a code but the car never goes ready so you can't pass inspection

Since the New-Edge mustang a tune has always been recommended to optimize your air fuel ratio when removing the catalytic converters. Without tuning the car you have no idea if you are running lean, rich, or if your air/fuel ratio is in stoich...

Could be hurting your motor by taking a shortcut.

Tune it

That's not true the car measures a/f with the pre cat O2 sensors. The only thing the post cat sensors are for is to make sure the cat is working

Still way less of a PITA install then the whole header system, not a bad price either. I have a feeling i’d be putting my resonators back in though lol. You may just get used to the volume

It's kinda hit or miss and no clue why. I never had an issue with doing these tricks but what I did was stack two antifoulers on top of each other, drilled the outer one out so the O2 would fit and never failed. This was on my '11 car so it's not like it was from OBD1 or something. The car always went into ready after normal driving. Maybe the trick is don't think about it so you're not trying to be too meticulous about your drive cycle?

I dunno. I was a nightmare on my lexus :(... I could not beat the low cat efficiency code.

I believe that the OEM cats quiet the exhaust quite a bit. When I went to my LT's it was loud at WOT, Much Much louder. I quiet mode, there is no difference which I find strange.

Also I heard a R with the Kooks cats. His car was much quieter than my car until he went WOT, even then it was not as loud. Then again he did have the entire Kooks system...I still have OEM mufflers.

The cats quiet the car down a LOT. High compression car too so she gonna be a screamer when uncorked. It also changes the acoustic properties of the vehicle so there will be some oddities at times like why the car might not sound as quiet in quiet mode. The pitch changes, the waves become shorter or longer and the muffler may not take certain pitches into consideration in that configuration. That's why companies like Borla and Corsa tune their exhaust systems with a 100% factory car (any car, not just the 350) in mind and make no guarantees of anything once you start putzing with stuff like removing cats, header configurations, resonators etc etc.

Just to follow up, I have close to 800 miles on the car since I did this install. I haven't had any issues with codes and the O2 extensions seem to be working just fine. We don't have emission inspections so no idea if it would pass in another state. I've kept an eye on the AFRs and they seem to be right where they should.

It so loud that when I first rev it up, people often jump back in surprise! Once you shift into 6th it really quiets things down to where you can easily have a conversation. But when you downshift into 3rd or 4th to pass a slow left lane driver...OMG! I had originally planned to install the Borla exhaust next, but the factory muffler does a very good job of keeping the exhaust quite when I want it to. I'd say its an almost perfect balance.

I chose to go this route because I'm not ready to tune the car. It was a gamble and if it didn't work I was going to go ahead and void the warranty. Luckily it did and I feel good knowing I have my factory warranty on a vehicle I'm still making payments on.

Do you think you gained any power. One thing I noticed is the A/F on the dash does not match what the computer is saying via the OBD II port

The display probably doesn't display samples as fast as the computer is reading. I wouldn't worry about it unless one of them starting saying like 14:1 at WOT or something alarming like that.
