I recently completed the install of Lethal Performance's off road mid-pipes on my GT350 without tuning the car or throwing any codes. I used the second version that comes with a flex section. My goal was to make it louder and maintain the factory warranty. Below is a review and summary of the install process.
The stainless tubes were true to size. They measured 3" and transitioned down to 2.5". The welds looked like they we're MIG'd and painted over. Over all they looked very good.
The factory exhaust before removal.
The factory exhaust bolts were very tight and hard to get to. I had to remove both front tires. The hardest bolt was the upper passenger. I got at it from the top of the engine bay.
Lethal's next to the factory cats.
Don't forget to remove, clean, and reuse the factory steel gaskets.
The completed install. I used ARP thread lube on all the bolts and torqued the flange bolts to 15ft-lbs then to 37ft-lbs. The X-Pipe section was torqued to 35ft-lbs.
The O2 extensions are from Vibrant Performance P#11621. I used the smallest orifice when they were assembled. Loctite copper anti-seize was used on the O2 threads and the O2 extension threads.
No noticeable ground clearance was lost.
Here is a Youtube right after install.
Overall I am very happy with the mid-pipes. I can't feel any more vibrations but you can slightly hear some high pitch ringing with the windows down. Probably from loosing the mass dampers. These things are incredibly loud with the mufflers opened up. I would say its louder than my open header vehicles. Its almost so loud I feel uncomfortable driving in town (still going to do it though). The stock resonator and mufflers are still on the car.
The original sound of the car is there but it is slightly different. Can't really explain it. The install was a PIA but totally worth it.
I have put close to 100 miles on the car and it looks like the O2 extensions are doing a great job. I have let it idle for 10 minutes, cruised the interstate, and given it hell. So far no check engine light. If it ever does pop up, I'll update this thread.
