Went to my first no prep race last night. These guys are nuts, 4 second 1/8th miles 35 degree F weather and a slick track. Only 2 hit the wall many out of shape. Had one racer from NYC and another from Chicago. Pretty good crowd considering the cold.

They have a 11.50 second 1/4 mile pro tree index class, I might try this next year. My heart is in road racing but my wallet is stuck in the drags.

I don't understand "no prep" racing either! I enjoy running national events on fully prepped 1/4 mile tracks, I go faster, break fewer parts and have more fun! Both NMRA and NMCA do a great job!

To make it worse this was a small tire event

I want ALL THE PREP ALL THE TIME
I don't like bracket racing, index racing is slightly better. I understand why. With a slick track the guy with a 50K car can beat a 500K car without having to hope the 500K car breaks.

Seems to be the only way to keep sportsman heads up racing without having John Force money

At least they aren't roll-racing at the track. That is the epitome of stupid IMO.

NMRA, and maybe NMCA, has a true street class (open to non members). You can have a lot of fun, with a degree of safety. NMRA travels with a complete crew, plus local 1st Responders. The tracks are immaculate, so you don't have to run though fluids and debris from other vehicles. All pluses in my book!

The event I went to was at an NHRA sanctioned track, so full safety crew and they cleaned the track after the idiots hit the wall.

Hey 35 degrees F, 10.5 tire and 2000 HP.....What could go wrong.

They do have a big tire class but that class did not run that night.

When I say idiots I mean that in a good way. It looked like a lot of fun and even on a cold November night they drew around 250 cars and as many spectators.

Good show

I read through the pure street rules and it reads like pro-stock.
