Had to replace the Carbon Fibre wheels and Michelin Sport Cup 2s. Wheels were too fragile for the street (at least here in NY) and the SC2s were just too scatty in the rain, only driveable Jun-Oct with no tread life. So these wheels and tires are where they belong - on a rack in my garage (awaiting my next track day).
So check 'em out: the 6GR is a really good copy of the 350R wheel - better IMHO than the SVE350R because it's wider like the original. I mated them to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires 305 up front and 325 in the rear. They are awesome! And have that bad ass look from behind. At $2,320 for 4 wheels with tires - plus $80 to install with cool fluted black lug nuts, it was less than one Carbon Fibre wheel. I did have to use two lug nuts on the front (an open lug nut, capped by the black one); one lug nut sufficed in the rear. I toyed with the bare stud look for about 5 seconds, but went back to the capped black lug nut with original Ford center caps. I'm not sure why Ford didn't use a black lug nut to begin with. I can now drive my Shelby in the rain, and be on the road from March-December. While my car rarely sees rain (like never) and won't ever see snow, I should be able to take it out on a nice 50-degree spring or fall day and not worry about the temp dropping into the 40s or near freezing. I learned this lesson on the Boss 302 LS, and won't let that happen again.
For me, it had to look factory original; I did consider the SVE350R wheel and almost bought the Vibe Wheel. But in the times of COVID, budget prevailed. While the lug nut holes were different and the the 6GR wheel is a little more convex, the look is what I was after. I think I nailed and have the best of both worlds. Your thoughts?
