Need more hp!!

Has anyone drop in a v8 motor in their v6? It would have to be complete engine swap and what about ecu or anything else I would need? I paid 23700 for 2016 Ford Mustang v6 automatic got appraisal for 19000 trade in only 1 month old. Any suggestions would be appreciated

You're better off trading it in on a V8. Its gonna cost you far more to do the swap properly than it would trading it.

Much better off getting a Procharger installed, I remember seeing a thread on here with a V6 making 58% gains on just 8psi of boost. You could make 400-450 wheel easy with a Procharger and a few supporting bolt ons. You could also go the nitrous route for some cheap power but I haven't seen anyone run nitrous on the S550 V6 yet.

Here's that thread I was talking about. I'm not sure how much it would cost but I'm pretty sure it's going to be less than buying a new motor and doing the swap. Also Procharger is currently looking for someone to beta test their kit, you could get one for a great price and Procharger has been around for a while, they know their stuff.

Everyone wants more power man. I'm guessing you opted for the V6 because the cost difference between this and the GT was too much, as it is for many of us. Personally I feel you get a lot for your money with the 6. That said, your options:

-Take a huge financial hit and trade it in for a GT. Bad move IMO unless you can absorb the hit. If so go for it.
-Procharge it. You'll make reliable 450+ HP. Much more cost effective than an engine swap. For a V8 swap you would need a 5.0, new trans, ecu, fuel system(?),cats,exhaust, springs etc. Much more than the 6k or so of the procharger.
-Enjoy your car as is, trade in after it's paid off or paid down enough where the hit isnt as bad.

Either way, relax and enjoy what you have and think if over. If you are still unhappy you got a few ways to fix it.

Procharger is definitely the way to go if you want easy power.

You could also look into turbocharging it - kits are already out for the 2011-2014 cyclones. They are slowly starting to come out for the 15s as well. Turbos are easier on the engine because they aren't ran off the crank like the prochargers so much less stress is put on the engine beside the extra power. Though turbos do tend to be a bit more complicated to install and tune correctly.

Either of the above options would be much cheaper than engine swapping to a v8 or even trading to one potentially. That and you will have much more power than a stock v8 as well.

I'd say just do a few mods to get some power and try to be satisfied with it. Guys with 700hp still want more. It'll never be enough

Its funny,I purchased my 99 cobra back in the day with 305hp and thought that was so awesome, now the v6 makes the cobra look like a chump. Anyway I vote pro charger, A 450hp car for 23k plus the price of the system sounds like cheap fun.

Just a guess here. But, I would say about 6K to 7K.

I don't think it would be that expensive. I think it's only $4500 - $5000 for the 2011 - 2014 models.
