Long story short, someone did a hit and run on my car (parked outside my house). The right fender above the tire is damaged. Dent size of a fist, fender pushed in(isn't aligned and flushed to the door), painted chipping(just a little at the bottom, but I fear it will get worse) and a couple of scratches. Took it to a body shop: dent guy told me, he can only get it back to 90%, and will charge me $200. Then body shop said $500+ to make it brand new (prime, repaint, sealant and realignment) and it will take 3+ days ..

So what should I do?
-where can I buy a right fender already painted?
-is there anything I can do for the paint to stop chipping if I go ahead and just fix the dent?

Thanks.

When you say dent guy, are you referring to pointless dent repair? If it's that bad, do it right.

Look on eBay - always Mustang sheet metal for sale on there and if you can find exact color, you'll save some $$.

If not there - search "coparts", lots of wrecks on there and contact selling yard.

What is your goal with buying a new fender? It is to save money? Avoid having a reshaped fender? I would guess with buying a new fender, there is still going to be some massaging necessary to get it to fit correctly. And if the paint is not a 100% match, which is a real possibility, you might have to repaint.

I think you get the fender repaired at a cost with the quote you got from the body shop and move on.

Safe money and time, but I'm going to try to find one for local pick up and make sure paint matches.. thanks for input
