Wish you took a pic of this bolt situation. Any idea of the size and or type.

Here is the best I can do for you.
I used the bolt on the top. the one on the bottom for comparison has the same diameter and pitch, it is from a license plate retainer screw set.
The outer diameter of the bolt is 7/32.
I literally had a dozen of the same type of bolt in my spares container.
