Mirror Tap

Everyone says the mirror tap is the way to go for power for a radar detector. Now I’m definetly not the smartest guy here but I doubt I’m the dumbest either however, I don’t see anywhere the tap can plug in on the backside of my rear view mirror. I have no lights in my mirror so I don’t see why it would have power to it. My interior lights are in a small pod above the mirror on the headliner. What am I missing here????
