So my new FMIC will be here one day I hope (next week) and the plan was always to finish my GT grille swap at the same time as to avoid taking the bumper off twice. I've completed the top already, but my concern is this:

Seeing as the GT doesn't have an intercooler (right?), is it possible the GT lower grille wasn't designed to facilitate max airflow behind it - whereas the EB lower grille seems much more open, perhaps to make sure the POS intercooler behind it gets cooled?

I'd prefer to complete the swap, but if the EB grille is better for performance I'll live.

Any insight?

Correct, no intercooler. I think you will be fine and there is always the lethal grill delete or maybe cut some holes with a dremel.

I like the look of Lethal, but that'd leave the FMIC unprotected. I'm sure I'll be fine with lower GT grille.

If you're worried about airflow, this was just posted in the eco section:

Deleted my lower with a GT lower, trimmed the center section out, I think it looks awesome.

I have the lower GT grille sitting on my table right now. This is my plan, maybe with some light mesh behind it to avoid destroying my MAP intercooler with the insane amount of construction debris around here.

Honestly, you're probably not going to see much of a difference in IATs. Open is open. A slightly higher cross sectional open area is not going to affect your intercooler as much as replacing that oem piece with a good aftermarket upgrade. Don't know what you're getting, but unless its a a Mishimoto, it likely has enough core volume and flow area for well beyond stock hp.

Mishimoto is what's on the way - not sure what HP it's rated to, but it does have a similar core size to MAP...21*5.75*5.28 vs. 20*6*5

Found it, 550HP is plenty.
