So I installed my magna flow comp cutback and my airaid intake yesterday and I went out for a nice long 25 mile drive.... and i feel like i lost some torque..... Am I crazy? does anyone else feel like these small bolt on mods dropped torque, or is it because its louder and more mean sounding that I am expecting more?

the torque in the power band in gears 1-3 just feel slower to me....

That is a fairly common observation especially with the EcoBoosts. Adding mods onto the EcoBoost platform as a whole without tuning the ECU is fruitless at best most times unfortunately. The ECU monitors so many variables and in conjunction with additional sensors like the stock wideband O2 sensors and MAP sensors they compensate for any additions that you make to the stock car.

thats what i figured, i wanted to get the parts put on before tuning that way i could get the right tune in one shot, but I certainly don't think they help the car without a tune.

do you think this power loss feeling is related more to the intake itself, or the exhaust.... or maybe just the combination of both??

The intake if it is a non-tune required intake that most likely is not going to be the root cause. Usually the large exhaust systems because they rob the necessary backpressure of the turbo and downpipes you will lose low end power there.

You removed restriction from your exhaust system, which resulted in an actual loss of torque. Restriction = torque, however it doesn't equal Horsepower. So you gained horsepower but sacrificed some torque which can be made up with a tune.

thats what i figured. I can easily feel the difference... bummer, all i wanted was sound out of the exhaust system and intake... didn't want a loss lol'

so lemme ask, is a STOCK car with a tune a better performer than say a Tuned ECO with an intake and exhaust???

No, because you are making more horsepower with those modifications. I think you should be looking at a tune for your next modification so you can make enough torque to never have to worry about a 10ft/lb loss again in your life.

lol, ^ hasn't seen my other thread, its all good... with all my other turbo cars, i modified and tuned all at the same time. This one I actually threw some bolt on mods and haven't tuned yet. some of my other cars have made upwards of 400-450 Wheel horse. I have definitely had quite a few, I guess I just didn't expect such a feel in the loss... I felt like it would have been so prominent...

No the threads and questions you seem to post and ask make it seem like you have never owned a modified boosted car.

if you really wanna see what what I have owned throughout the years check out my other thread. its been 7 years since i bolted on or tuned any kind of turbo system. Things are different now, there is a sensor and a computer completely for everything. Im just trying to learn
