I have a Kicker CX400.1 Mono Amplifier for my sub, and the car stereo dealer also sold me a PAC LP7-2 LOC. I tapped into the rear deck speaker wires to connect the LOC. During this process, I discovered that this particular amp does not require a LOC, as it will "accept up to 40 volts (400 watts) of speaker-level input signal. This kind of flexibility both makes line-out converters unnecessary and optimizes your sound quality at the same time!" (according to Kicker).

So, my question - Am I better off with or without the LOC in this car? I don't know how many volts are present in the rear speakers, but assume I'm covered in the "up to 40" range. Also, there are instructions for calibrating gain on the LOC, as well as the amplifier gain, so I'm not sure if using the LOC in this case allows for better adjustment, or just further complicates everything without any benefits.

For reference, according to the manual, the Input Sensitivity for this amp is:

Low Level: 125mV-5V
High Level: 1V-40V

Better off without a LOC. Les complexity is good.

That's exactly what I did. Easy way to clean up the install, too! Just wish I'd known before I bought it... Good thing it was relatively cheap.
