This topic has been beat to death by people who do know what their talking about. Alex is pretty much right, massive decel/acel from Rev limiter is thought to kill these gears fast. Also the harmonics.

I didn't personally have a failure, but my friends 2018 A10 whipple car had 4k miles. OPG let go at the track and demolished his bearings, made me a believer in doing opg. I did opg in my car the month after because I didnt want this to be my engines fate lmao.
