So I got pulled over on Penn Turnpike the other day, with my 9500ix going and waze up on my phone (mounted on my dash).

The story behind that is it was evening time, and dark out. The LEO was standing in one of those truck pull-off areas along the road with his radar off. Since it was dark, and I was passing a truck in the left lane I did not see him. Apparently, he only pointed his radar at me once he saw me speed by at which point my detector went off and it was too late.

93 in a 70, so watch out folks there is nothing that works 100% out there, I guess I jost got cocky and ignorant of the possibility of getting pulled over.
Waze works best in populated areas. One of the reasons why I go the speed limit when its dark is because you can't see who's who.

sorry to hear that.

Instant-On, or Quick-Trigger radar has been around since the 80s I believe, and is one of the true weaknesses of any radar/laser defense system.

IMO the cop will have a harder time winning if you fight it though (vs laser or sometimes standard radar)

I've gotten a ticket in a similar situation except it was broad day light out.

We actually passed the cop on the side of the highway and had plenty of warning via Escort Live and my radar system. After a mile or two of continuing past, all alerts went away and I assumed he stayed where he was as it looked like he was finishing a report after having pulled someone over.

Fast forward about 5 minutes, the cop had actually pulled out at some point, sped up, and was "hiding" behind an SUV behind me and in the lane to my right, so there was no way for me to see him. I passed a car in the fast lane and the minute I gave it gas he flipped it on.

When my lawyer started requesting documentation on the radar device used, the device service/calibration records, etc., the LEO decided not to show up to the court date and all my charges were thrown out (including the 3 additional charges I got beyond speeding).

(Reason for requesting the info -- If it was a POP device, while not likely, then theres a small chance of getting convicted. If it was IO radar then the crowded highway could have played a role, the LEO may not have established a tracking history, may not have been serviced or calibrated in the required timeframe etc.)

I recieved my first speeding ticket in 30 yrs last July on route 80 in Ohio when I was driving my car back from Illinois to nyc , waze picked up Leo when he had me pulled over lol.In NYC area radar detector is almost useless unless your the second fastest guy as they are almost instant on .i however had lots of fun last fall daily driving my car along a 25 mph speed trap at 5 am for a couple of months as I would always be at the right rpm at 25 to have the awesome crackle of the exhaust at just the right time as the detector was going full tilt .
