Yeah, we have two dogs, but they never go in the mustang! That's what my truck is for.

Ours are shorthaired dogs (pit bulls), but they leave a mark on any vehicle; hair mostly, slobber, nose prints on windows, nail scratches on leather. I love 'em but no way are they getting in the mustang. I'm sure precautions could be taken, and everyone may not have a choice sometimes, but if you have a different vehicle, use it!
Totally valid advice, but I want to holiday in my Mustang not in the wife's SUV :D. Hmm...I could just leave them all behind I guess

My German shepherd is about 130lbs he lays in the seat just fine. I put a fitted sheet on the back and bottom of the seat and I bought a thick canvas like cover that clips to the car seat anchors in the back window.

130lbs?! Good God. My GSD is 70lbs, and she can still pull me off my feet if I'm not paying attention.

I love both of my dogs but they still don't ride in the stang. They can sleep on the sofa. Not the stang.

My 90lb lab has no prob chillin in the trunk with the seats down. You just have to be able to lift him up and put him in
That's awesome! I was wondering if that would work. My Golden is a lightweight by comparison, shes 67lbs (and 10 months old). I don't always have access to my wifes SUV and would like to take her places when its just her and I, instead of leaving her.

I have 2 ACC, Australian Cattle dogs, red healers, they are not allowed in the stang because of the thin leather. They know not to try. They do get to ride in the truck though (in the cab, never in the bed). I have cut down on how much they ride 99% since I was hurt in a wreck last year. They are both smart spoiled brats for sure. But I swear they understand everything I say.

Hey Sinister. You need to get that sumbitch a pp wheel and tire to play with.

Haha no doubt. Here he is with his favorite toy back in the day. Used to drag me all over the yard.

Good day to you all.

This is probably one of the more off the wall requests, but have any people managed to carry large dogs in the back of their Mustang?

I’m thinking of getting the Shrader Rear Seat Delete and reinforcing it. The wife is thinking I’m plain crazy :)

The dogs are a male Golden Retriever (so medium sized but stocky) and a Hovawart (size of a very large German Shepherd).

I had greyhounds in a sedan once upon a time. Cut a sheet of plywood, support as neccesary to level it and add some bits to the edge to protect your interior. Poof instant pooch perch!!

He used to ride my Stang when he was a puppy. It got real messy real quick so I stopped giving him rides on it. I don't think he'll fit in there now, being 200lbs pounds and all.

He is magnificent!

It wouldn't take much forced perspective to make him look bigger than the car lol
