Hey audiophiles!

I'm a great mechanic but not so great at car audio. After hosting countless install days at my home and building quite a few cars of my own, I've got a nice little pile of donated parts in the garage. Including three pairs of speakers. I just don't know if any of the 4 pairs will work in my car.

My car is a 2015 GTPP base model.

I have these speakers.

JL audio TR525-cxi- 5.25" 2 way

Rockford Fosgate p1653 - 6.5" 3 way

Kenwood KFC10625 - 4" 3 way

Will any of these work in my car? I know there are issues running 2 way or 3 way in base model cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

So if you have the base model, then I would try the Rockfords in the lower door location, just to see how they sound.

Personally, I'm not a fan of multi-way speakers because unless you mount them in the kicks properly angled or up high on the dash (not really feasible with a 6.5"), the sound will be down at your feet generally.

Since they are free, there's no harm in trying them and you can decide if you want more or if they fit the bill...

I figured pretty much anything would be an upgrade over paper cones.

If I install the 3 ways will I have issues with my factory tweeters?

If you keep the factory tweets, it will help to raise the soundstage above the dash, which is a good thing. The downside is that you would then have high frequency information coming from down low and up high which distorts the imaging. Ideal would be just 6.5 mid woofers in the lower doors and tweeters up high.

Having said that, unless you are a hardcore audiophile, you'll probably be fine with what you are planning, and it won't cost anything but time :)

Thank you very much for your input! I'm going to go ahead and do it, nothing to lose, right?

Thats the way I see it... and if you decide you want something more, I'd suggest checking out the Do It Yourself Mobile Audio Forum... tons of great information about all aspects of car audio;
