There's definitely a good power difference between 87 and 93 octane. You can use 87 with the 93 tune as Lund does not modify knock sensor sensitivity from OEM, but you will not make the same power. A lot of people will use 87 for commuting on the highway long distances to save a few bucks at the pump but don't be surprised if you are monitoring KNOCKR on the nGauge to see the PCM pulling timing when passing or getting aggressive with the throttle.

If you have any questions about the nGauge and/or Lund tuning, don't hesitate to contact us!
Thanks
within reason.
it's not really recommended to run 87 on a 93 octane tune, but the knock sensors will pull timing.
91 and 93 are much closer, that the car won't work as hard.
if your constantly changing fuels, the flex fuel tune would be your best bet
Jon Lund specifically told me I could run 91 on my 93 tune, but nothing lower. For gasoline tunes on the 11+ cars, there is only 1 tune (87, 91, 92, 93). FlexFuel or E85, gasoline race fuels, etc get different tunes (note: race gasoline can be used in regular gas tunes). The only reason why our tune form asks to specify octane level is because that's a generic form we use across the whole Ford tuning platform.
in the 87 tunes, the only thing really changed is throttle calibration.Jon Lund specifically told me I could run 91 on my 93 tune, but nothing lower.
His exact quote when I asked him if I could run 91 on with my 93 tune:
"yes, it is safe. We set the tunes up to retain OEM adaptive octane logic so it uses the knock sensors to advance timing from our base timing which is safe on 91 (nothing less though)."
I'm sure it can be done. Just relaying what Jon told me, which was nothing lower than 91.in the 87 tunes, the only thing really changed is throttle calibration.
you can run the 87 on the 93 tune, but it's not recommended as i said, and you should avoid "wot" if possible
