I'm trying to post a quote. No problem on my iPhone or iPad only my iMac. Weird.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give.

That's not one I've seen before. @Jarstang , any ideas?
Good afternoon Paul. Just tried using Chrome and it works no problem. So it is Safari on my iMac. I've done all the normal Safari troubleshooting, clearing caches, logging out and then back in but to no avail. I'll continue to use Chrome for now but I would appreciate a solution, if possible.

Thank you,
Ira

I can cross check, when you say "Post a quote", do you mean like uploading a document (like a sales quote?) Or just using the quote tags / choosing quote from a previous post / ... ?

OK, on Safari, will upload a PDF, use the quote function, etc., just a general functional check (FYI, I'm on Mojave 10.14.6)

Hi DT, thanks for answering.

This has to do when I am looking up a post and trying to "quote it" The first part works on everything I have. But when I go to "Insert Quote" I get that message on Safari. (High Sierra 10.13.6) When I go to Chrome, no problem. On my iPad (IOS 13.3.1) no problem either. Now today I tried doing this on my iPad 11 with IOS 13.3.1 and I get the same error message. I checked settings on both IOS devices and do not see any differences. Also checked setting in Safari, nothing. I'm stumped.

Thank you for any input you can offer.

Yeah, no sweat, I kind of like debugging tech issues

So you click on this in a post:

And it toggles and displays this message like so:

Screen Shot 2020-02-19 at 5.51.46 PM.png

And it's when you the the Insert Quotes button - you don't get this Quote selector dialog, but the error you posted above?

That's fetching the quotes using a Ajax call to a service on the server side, but I believe it stores the selected Quote (i.e., the post ID) in a local session/cookie, because it's not shared across browser instances (vs. Drafts which are stored on the server, since they're fetched into other browsers by way of the user login ID).

However, that error message is server side, it's almost like your browser is making an invalid call to the service, and that's the sort of generic error handler (maybe it's passing in a null for the post IDs)

Do you have any extensions / plugins in Safari? In particular any kind of ad blocker type thing?

This is the way it works in Chrome.....

1. I start by copying text within a post.

2. Then I hit "Quote"

3. Go down to the reply box and hit "Inset Quote.

4. Quote entered into reply box

In Safari when I go to do #3 I get the error box.

I'll knock around with it a little bit later, I almost exclusively use Chrome on MacOS, but I tried several of the usual suspect issues, and my Safari worked as expected.

My IT guys used to joke that I knew enough to screw things up pretty badly but not enough to fix them. That said this server stuff is over my head.

No extensions, plug-ins, or ad blockers on either my iMac or Iphone.

Thank you. I've been all over "Preferences" but nothing stands out. I would also swear this just started happening recently just cannot put my finger on when.

Sounds like me! I'll see something online about " change this and you can make your iMac faster". Yeah it did it got so fast it stalled!
