Steeda.................a little sleeker than the track pack spoiler. I think it flows well.

thanks for the photos drkhrs. From what I've seen, the MMD spoilers just don't flow right on the convertible. In the video, chip says he designed it to follow a very specific line that the coupe has and the convertible doesnt have that same line. I do like that one on the coupe though.

Time is ticking down and my 2017 GT Convertible Performance Pack in Oxford White will be here soon. My question - What spoiler should I get and should it be white or black?

but now I am not sure what color. I was all set on this one in black, but I don't know now. I like the white/black look.

Give me your opinions!
Here is my Foose by MMD spoiler in gloss black (the smaller one). Fitment and paint quality is OEM quality.

if you scroll all the way to the bottom of this page, you can see what I'm talking about with the MMD spoiler on the convertible. Look at the way the spoiler floats well above the quarter panels. On the coupe, it appears to be a lot more flush. Are the cars shaped differently? I need to figure out why that is. I don't want the outsides to look like wings. I want it to look like it is almost attached. On the Steeda, the outsides appear to be far enough back that the shape doesn't differ between coupe and convertible.

ok, I think there is a subtle, but important difference on the convertibles. This is my highly unscientific analysis of what's going on... In each, the center photo is of my vehicle, the outsides are two coupes (one white with a spoiler and one red without a spoiler... couldn't find a white without a spoiler)

We'll ignore the obvious, like the trunks are shaped completely differently once you get about 6 inches from the back of the decklid. We'll look only at the very back, where the spoiler mounts to the decklid and where it overhangs the quarter panels on each side.

First photo - even with gas flap, straight on
all three sides.webp

There appears to be a more rounded line in the transition between the quarter panel line and the integrated spoiler line on the convertible. It also appears that the integrated spoiler on the convertible is not at as much of an angle, and does not rise as far above the rest of the trunk lid.

Second photo - phone sitting on wing mirror, straight down side of vehicle
all three mirror.webp

it again appears that the integrated spoiler is far more subdued on the convertible than the coupe. The quarter panel has a very different shape, rising much higher toward the convertible top than on the coupe where there is a much flatter area directly above the wheel. This is not an area that is affected by the spoiler, but obviously the quarter panels are very different back there.

Looking at these photos, I think I see why the spoilers look different on the convertibles. given the smaller slope of the integrated spoiler area on the trunk lid, anything that mounts back there but flows forward toward the outside is going to be flatter when mounted on the convertible than on the coupe. The upward angle on the very back of the coupe trunk helps push the front of the wing down closer toward the quarter panel.

I'm sure this doesn't read the way I am trying to say it, but now it makes a little more sense to me!
