I got the cheep one from Cjpony(83.00),didn't think I needed a 200.00 H-pipe but anyway the front slipped right in the pipes and I cut the back of the h-pipe a 1/4 inch before the start of the flare then cut the resonator pipes 1/2 inch past the rear weld and then slid the tail pipe right into the h pipe and ran a weld around each pipe.....Nice and clean,no leaks and no drone but will see what change there is when I do the mufflers later, for now I'm happy with how it turned out.

The clamps that came with the h pipe might of worked but I have a welder so why not.

Ya idk I'm on the fence right now about whether to try a higher quality h-pipe, try an xpipe, or just have a shop weld my resonator back on. I don't mind the backfires it's this weird sound that almost sounds like when the girlfriend wears down the brake pad and and starts grinding the rotor but amplified. I wish I could get it on video but my stupid phone doesn't pick it up properly and actually sounds good when recorded lol. Grrrrr :frusty:

The only real difference is the spot where it crosses over. I saw many exhaust systems and all of those had the cross over closer to the start of the bolt on end as opposed to the middle of the mid pipe.

So that's why I *went with Heartthrob. Also the crossover diameter is said to be bigger than the cjpp one.

But mine never sounded like worn down brakes..
Give it a few weeks.ive had mine for 2 weeks today and the sound has definitely changed. Less harsh, more liveable and better sound profile.

I should have read the 1 star reviews for the pipe cause it's all people with the roush axle-back and they say it sounds like shit to, could be poor build quality so I ordered the heartthrob x-pipe to match the rasp of the roush we shall see what happens. It did get quite right but still sounds like a diesel truck.

Thats the problem with h pipes. Less rasp...but they sound too much like a truck v6. The x has rasp, but very minimal drone, and has a smoother, more hugh performance type sound to it. Sounds like a performance motor rather than a loud ford ranger. The h pipe idle and low rpm does sound nice though

Did a cold start video with h pipe and stock mufflers but I can't get it to load anyway it sounds nice on start up and has that rasp sound when kicked down,it's better then stock and a muffler change should make it sound better yet, still happy.

Does it have a weird sound when engine breaking? Like a diesel truck.

UPDATE: I installed the heartthrob x-pipe and now it sounds beautiful. Not trying to talk trash but that $100 h-pipe from CJPonyParts is junk, or at least mine was. Idk if it was defective or just cheap but I'm so glad I have that off my car. And I love the new x-pipe sound!

It all depends on what sound your going for :D,the CJpony is 2.5" all the way around and its the sound I was looking for its a bit lower tone on start up and idle and when you floor it it's not overly loud, can hear it with window down but yet still quite in the car this is with stock mufflers. It all comes down to what sound your after,if I want loud Ill drive my modded sn95 GT:thumbsup:.i could only wish my v6 could sound even close to it,I'd be in heaven.

Ya I definitely dug the sound it made just I think and the shop I took it to thinks that the welding was does improperly on the crossover section. The downside now of the x-pipe I got is that the exhaust note sounds like a g37 and and a 370z had a baby. Not sure if I like it or would rather have a more muscle car exhaust note but it will do for now and the coming winter. I don't think anything we do can ever compensate for the 2 cylinders were missing to match that v8 roar.

That's what makes it so hard,we all like a different sounds from our exhaust but getting there is hard without spending a arm and leg on different exhaust parts,we all try to buy the best sound right away and a lot of times it doesn't work out that way, I run the off road H pipe on my SN95 with Pype bombs and it sounds awesome to me but no way I'll get even close with the v6 but now with the H pipe and a decent muffler I might get a sound I can live with,I'm leaning towards the Gibson mufflers, they seem to have a lower pitch.
