Looking at some of the SEMA cars, some had non-tinted but definitely blacked out headlight/turn signal chrome.

Anyone attempted disassembly and painting?

The Lighting Firm, www.thelightingfirm.net does it with or without a core for you. They are a little high, but their work is top notch and offer a lot of options on what you are shooting for.

I've been contemplating just doing it myself but don't want to screw it up lol.

AAC (Advanced automotive concepts) does this too. Take apart the headlight, paint the inside bezel color matched, black, whatever, and re seals it all. It looks awesome on cars with projector headlights, as the light looks like its floating in there when the inside is color matched to the car.

Might want to double check on TLF. They have been really slipping lately for the guys over at focusst.org.
it's really not too hard to take them apart either assuming these newer mustang lights are glued together just like any other car lights. it mght be worth looking into a diy as its very easily doable at home with a little baking lol. Could be a fun little project while saving hundreds of dollars. Can't wait to pick up my 16 pp eb.

It's really not necessary on these new mustangs since the inside of the headlight is already blacked out but if you want to do it, you'd have to get the headlight out of the car. Put it in a oven to get the adhesive to stop sticking, and then get them open, then you'd sand it and prime and paint. I was looking into this on my 2000 white and black expedition. This is the basic process but may be slightly different on s550.
All in all, I would say it's not worth it at all.

TLF does a fantastic job with headlight builds

We brought ours to Retroshop to have them painted gloss black:

I choose gloss black because it pops with the charcoal matte metallic wrap

Does Retroshop have a website?
I see they have Facebook, but can't check it from work.

I loved the look of your headlights at SEMA!

I opened up headlights before but I'm still a little nervous to do it myself, even though I'll probably end up doing it. I can't imagine paying TLF over a $1k for what I want done.

When I did my S2000 head lights you just reheated the OEM sealant and reassembled it, extra sealant wasn't required. I'm not sure how it is on the S550 headlights.

Can't you paint it yourself?

the lighting firm is closed. which is a shame because they made some nice lights at one point. i haven't found another company that does the customization they were once capable of
