My exhaust in my new car seems much louder than the car I drove in the states a year ago. Could Ford have rampted up the noise? Or am I imagining it? Either way I'm very happy with the note it has - I might sell the cat back I was going to install.:)

The stock exhaust note sounds like a washing machine.
Everyone has there opinions and I have never resorted to personal insults to express mine. Good luck to you.

You must be highly strung bud. My expression of what the stock exhaust sounds like shouldn't get your balls in a knot.

I think I will avoid you, you seem grumpy.

As a washing machine myself, I was personally insulted by said comment

In all seriousness though, I believe it's in your imagination OP. The only exhaust difference in our cars is the header design, and I doubt its significant enough to create a noticeable difference in sound

It may be the euphoria of finally having the car- everything seems pretty good - I cant seem to find fault with anything.:)

For what it's worth Car (Chris), Yeah Nah wasn't insulting you but just expressing his thoughts on the exhaust noise, where everybody on the forum has their own opinion. Me personally - I think it is too quiet but you might think it is ok which is fine. Just remember it is louder in the cabin than outside.

If I was you, before I send back the catback, find somebody with a catback and listen to the difference, then make up your mind.

I'm sure the both of you could have a drink together one day and a laugh.

Its louder inside? Never thought of that.
And you prob right. I was in hospital getting my arm fixed. Took the wife and in law (93 years) out for a drive and the wife fell getting out of the back. Tried to catch her and ripped arm to bits. Can still drive but luckily arm will fix. The back seats re ok but not for people with less mobility.
Yeah Nah I take it back sorry. Owe you a drink.

Car, I am not a technical guy, others on here could explain it better, but the exhaust sound is piped into the cabin from the engine bay through plastic tubing I believe. It runs along the left passenger side of the engine block, there is a name for it, just can't think of it offhand. There are pics of it on one of the threads.

If you put a catback or axleback exhaust on the car, just get some opinions on which ones are the best for no drone inside the cabin and how loud you want it. Plenty of the guys on here have changed their exhaust so look up an exhaust thread on here and have a good read.

I'm going to try just the rears and maybe then the resonator. Have to wait for the arm to fix - 3 weeks.

Some have also removed the sound box after installing their systems. There is a video on Youtube showing how to do it.
