We will not know for sure for almost another year when access to the new camaro and a scale will be possible. By then everyone else will have forgotten these claims, and well thought out excuses will then be forthcoming.

You're not as well informed on GM products as you think you are and you are throwing out false information.

First off, there is no such thing as an ATS 3.6 with a manual. Mustang is testing heavier too. You know why? Because they are optioned out cars.

Second off, an ATS 2.0 curb weight is not 3,479. I honestly have no idea where you are getting your numbers. Its curb weight is 3,411. 3.6 coupe has additional equipment over the 2.0 in the respective trim and its curb weight is 3,530.

Show me the link of GM stating it'll be 600 pounds lighter. I recall seeing something along those lines, but not sure where. You do know that the CTS-V coupe is a 42,xxx pound car, right? Fairly close to a 600 pound difference if you ask me as we don't even know the weight of the ATS-V yet. Could be 3,650 or could be 3,750. Could also be 3,700. We'll find out.
Caddy advertises the V6 at 3530lbs, it tested at 3565lbs with an auto. The car isn't selling well and I have literally zero interest in the ATS. Still, an auto 3.6 Camaro isn't going to weigh less than that. Already, the V6 ATS Coupe auto is 35lbs heavier than the Mustang and I can't assume the Camaro won't grow. It will grow and on that note, a 3.6 auto Camaro will approach 3600lbs. That is quite a difference.

The issue is the ATS-V being over 3700lbs already. It makes a 3700lbs Camaro difficult. I'm saying the base Camaro will be grateful to break 3800 even. I doubt that has any of the Z51 package weight as well.

More than 220lbs separate the ATS Coupe 2.0T and ATS-V. If indeed the Camaro starts at 3520lbs, that gives you a 3740lbs Camaro.

Assuming that is the Camaro is exactly the same as the ATS. It is not...

There you go again. You're using the curb weight of the Mustang, but the reported weight of an ATS when it was tested. How does that make any sense? Do you know what options or what trim that ATS was?

Curb weight for ATS is 3,530. Curb weight for automatic v6 Mustang is 3,530.

Why is this thread still going anyway? The z/28 is a one-and-done product and it's had its fifteen minutes of fame. It was a nice piece of engineering considering the portly chassis it was stuck with. The only people who give two dumps about the z/28 anymore are the GM fanboys/leghumpers and Camaro die hards. It may perform well, but it's still damn ugly just like all of its 5th generation brethren.

In a world where Justin Bieber has a successful singing career, anything is possible :)

..

But I don't think this will be. The ATS and ATS-V have shitty wheelbase to track ratios. The Camaro cannot adopt that or it will be a looooong generation.
You tend to get hung up on strange things...like this wheelbase to track ratio.

The car handles wonderfully. You have read reviews right? So what is the problem???

If Camaro handles like the ATS, it will be praised for it....shitty wheelbase ratio and all.

Suspension geometry isn't strange, it is the basis for the entire vehicles handling dynamics.

GM is a damn fool...

I never used the tested price, I always used the official 3530lbs. I only used the 3530lbs because I assumed a manual was availible and it would have been lighter than the auto.

Regardless, an auto ATS IS heavier than an Auto Mustang V6.

Sorry, the Camaro WILL NOT be lighter than an ATS coupe at any level.

So how did you get a 35 pound difference? I know you like to change your stories. ATS coupe and Mustang with 6 cylinder and auto transmissions weigh exactly the same.. I believe the manual Mustang weighs only 4 pounds less.. Where is the 35 pound difference coming from?

Base 6 cylinder ATS is a much better optioned car than a base v6 Mustang.

Camaro is getting a wider track and it'll be about the same weight as the ATS across the board.

Nobody can come out and say THAT Chevy can't make a car to handle while keeping a straight face.

If I get the Camaro, I'll weigh it at the same time my buddy does his Gt PP. I bet they'll be damn close.

It is funny watching these GM fans come over to 6G and only reply and post in this thread...Must be some of ThePill's fans from Camaro5/6.com.

Good stuff...especially when you search their forum names across Google. Interesting stuff for sure.

Let's everyone wait until weight is revealed then instead of making biased statements simply because one hates the company. Chevy sad it'll weigh less. Only Ford fanboys are disputing I because they don't want to see it. Chevy never said Corvette would lose curb weight, just that it lost platform weight. We'll find out soon enough.

You know what? I think you are Chefborozzy that used to post here and still posts over at Camaro5/6. That account was banned a while ago from this site.

Odd that 2 people from Iowa that love GM would come here and only discuss things in these GM threads....very interesting...maybe I am wrong.
