Don't preach and say the ZL1 is faster then the R on a road corse when the ZL1 isn't even out yet.
Don't you know? Process already owns a 2017 ZL1 and he's tracked it, same day, with all the other cars in his signature. He's speaking from a position of first-person experience, not speculating about the performance of a car that is not even in production yet like the rest of us! And he also has, apparently, inside knowledge of the base MSRP on the car in advance of its announcement.

I disagree honestly. They are similar in price, the only real difference is the ZL1 was designed to be a track focused grand tourer, where the GT350 was just designed to be track focused. I'd venture to say the GT500 will be and always has been designed to be a drag focus Grand Tourer.

But when it comes down to dollars the ZL1 and GT350 will be pretty damn close in cost. At least ZL1 and GT350R, not like the major gap between a Z06 and a Ford GT. The Ford GT is being considered a supercar, something a Corvette is definitely not.
So if GM sold a new 2017 z28 with a naturally aspirated engine and ford had a gt500 ecobeast with 750 hp is that a equal comparssion?

From a price perspective sure. It's not our fault GM and Ford flip flopped their price points.

From my understanding though the previous gen Z28 still put down similar drag times that the ZL1 did, I think only .1 separated the two. Obviously the ZL1 is a much better drag racing platform though once you start modifying it.

The Last Z28 cost 75k and got clobbered by a cheaper car. What's the point of that? The z cost more. So your saying the more the car cost the better or faster it should be? The gt350R cost 10k less. If I took my gt350 track pack and I paid $60000 for it and the zl1 cost 65000 can I dump 5k into it and call it even?

Sure, but the Z28 out did the Boss 302 LS, which was it's cheaper competition.

We can argue, intended use vs. intended use, we can argue price point vs. price point. We can argue which one came in nicer colors.

5th Gen Z28 vs. 13-14 GT500 on a road course, the Z28 won. Drag race, GT500 won.

5th Gen Z28 vs. Boss 302 LS on a road course the Z28 won, drag race, I believe they were a driver's race to be honest. Edge going to the Z28.

5th Gen ZL1 vs. Boss 302 LS on a road course (according to motor trend) the ZL1 wins.

5h Gen ZL1 vs. Boss 302 LS on a drag strip, the ZL1 wins.

5th Gen ZL1 vs. GT500, they seemed to trade wins on the road course depending on the track.

5th Gen ZL1 vs. GT500 drag race, GT500 all day.

How about I bring a $5000 foxbody and dump $60,000 in mods into it.... Or a $15,000 C5 Corvette and dump $50,000 into it.

Once you start modding the argument is invalid. It becomes a new argument of, which is a better platform to build from. Be thankful the ZL1 and Z28 are going to be badass, just makes Ford up their game to make better performing and more powerful Mustangs.

Sure, but let's compare real world prices. One could obtain a Z28 for 15% (or was it 20%, I can't remember the exact details) off when GM was running that promo. The idea of a stripped $75,000 camaro wasn't appealing unless you were a Camaro enthusiast who either:

A. liked looking at it in your garage
B. liked racing Camaros on a road course

So of course the car could be had for a good price, which put it near Boss 302 LS pricing.

You can not compare discount prices. We're talking msrp. Some can get a gt350 at sticker and some can't. I know of 2 z28's that didn't sell in my area and after months of sitting they dropped the price 18k

Well realistically the GT350 isn't selling for MSRP, and I don't forsee that changing in 2017 either.

Realistically I can walk into a ford dealer and pay over sticker for a GT350R or a GT350. Realistically I can walk into a Chevy dealer and buy a Z06 at invoice. I most certainly will be able to do the same thing to a ZL1 in about 6 months after launch.

Because it's a bargain. The z28 was not a bargain.

In comparison to what? All depends on your perspective. If I wanted a track focused car that could run the ring in the 7:30s... uhh yes it was a bargain.

If I wanted a Camaro that had great performance but was an all around car... nope not a bargain.

Ok here's my point. The 75k z got beat in all comparssion by a car that cost 65k. That's a bargain.

That came out years later, as it should.

What are we going to say if/when the 1LE beats up on the GT350 and it is $10,000 cheaper?
